Guest Reviews of Actons

Hotel needs refurbishing. Room was unclean. Evening meal was first class.

Bryan Lancaster on Wed Sep 24 2008

We loved the Actons because it was a harbour view hotel with a large parking lot. The room was large and pretty and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. We were able to walk to pubs and shops.

Tamara Lesage on Sun Aug 31 2008

Not as good as we had anticipated - ate our evening meal in the Captains Table restaurant - staff didn't know half the menu, wines, meal was cold and had to be sent back - very expensive for what we received. Room shabby and in need of re-decoration

Ms Ali Bampton on Tue Apr 22 2008

Location was a bit scary and hotel rooms smelled a bit musty.

Maureen Fahey on Mon Jan 14 2008

We were not pleased with the Actons. It has a wonderful location and service and cleanliness were fine, but it was GROSSLY overpriced for several reasons. The bed was so old that it sagged in the middle, which was visible the minute we walked into the room, making it uncomfortable to sleep because we continually rolled downhill into one another. (I even took a picture of the slump in the bed it was so bad!!!) The bed covers were old and faded. The carpet was so old and frayed one could see the plastic grid that held it togehter. The paint was so old througout the halls and the room that there wasn't a visible spot with out scuff marks. Up the stairwell there are many fake plants and there was trash stuck in these fake plants. One fellow visitor was drying his clothes on the heat registers in the hall on the 2nd floor. There must have been a party in the hotel because we didn't sleep until 2 AM because of all the noise in the parking lot. The staff was very professional and did what they could, but we still didn't sleep. This is the sort of establishment I expect from a $49 a night holiday inn in the middle of nowhere, not a Euro$219 establishment! If I had been paying $49, I would have been very satisfied, but not at the price they were charging. The front entrance, lobby, and dining room are lovely...just walk a little further to see behind the scenes!

Marie Hurt on Thu Jan 3 2008

Some of the paintwork in the room was a bit scruffy.

Kathleen Evans on Sat Oct 27 2007

Showers could be updated but the location is excellent

Bernard Brice on Tue Oct 9 2007

Hotel generally looked like it needed decorating and carpets repalcing. Food trays from rooms left in corridor until mid afternoon before clearing.Personally not the best area that we saw.

Colin Smith on Sun Sep 9 2007

The hotel was well positioned but the room and corridors were shabby. The chairs in the restaurant were stained and unpleasant. Location and view were excellent.

Bob Davey on Wed Jul 18 2007

I would definately go back to the Actons the staff was wonderful

Judy Lane on Wed Jul 18 2007

The rooms were sparse. The beds were uncomfortable. And the staff wasn't helpful.

Lisa Canale on Mon Jul 9 2007

This hotel rated at the bottom of our list, although some of the family mentioned the view from our window of the river. The rooms were marginal; tree beds in all rooms made them limited and cramped; towels were passed the time to throw out. The available spa and pool near the parking lot was very nice as was the fitness center. The receptionist was not welcoming and I would send her to customer care courses.

Richard Lockwood on Mon Jul 2 2007

The service at breakfast was to slow.

Kristof Eisert on Mon Jul 2 2007

This was an interesting contract to the places we visited before arriving in Kinsale. A walk through the town is worthwhile.

Frances Koontz on Tue Jun 26 2007

We liked this hotel the least of all our locations. The hotel is in need of upgrades regarding paint, rooms/bathrooms.

Pat Finley on Tue Nov 28 2006

loved seeing the bay right out our window

Jayne Palecki on Sun Oct 15 2006

Dirty tables left in dining room at breakfast

David Henderson on Sun Oct 1 2006

Kinsale was the best part of the trip, and Actons was very comfortable and in a GREAT location.

Elaine Bakker on Thu Sep 28 2006

This hotel was one of the few low points of our trip. We had a harbor side view which would have been okay except the room was also a smoking room. Also, when we checked in they asked us if we would like a paper but never provided one because I had failed to specify which paper I would like. The staff was friendly and the bar was excellent. We enjoyed the food and the town greatly.

Eric Pierson on Wed Jul 12 2006

Very Nice, Glad we booked.

Dan Campbell on Sat Jul 1 2006

We loved Kinsale!

Keith Sikora on Wed Jun 14 2006

Great location Kinsale is a fantastic spot that I would love to return to, it is right in the middle of Kinsale handy to local shops and restaurants. Rooms were nice, only one small thing and that is the outside of the hotel could do with a spruce up.

Brad Guthrie on Wed May 31 2006

Very nice loaction on the harbour. Harbour view rooms are very recommended and Spa and Pool area are excellent. Jacuzzi outside is very nice on a sunny day.

Dorothee Vogel on Tue May 30 2006

I think the drawback to this hotel is age and lack of upgrading. Everything else was fine. The hospitality was outstanding. I traveled with Faith Benson Name: Barbara Lynn

Faith Benson on Mon May 22 2006

Excellent location overlooking Kinsale harbour and within a stroll of the pubs and restaurants around the town. Make sure to book a seaview room. Public areas and refurbished rooms very nice, staff very friendly

Joan O'Connell on Tue Nov 29 2005

internet hotspots around the hotel. the exterior of the hotel is a a bit outdated compared to the interior (this is due to the renovations and extensions). 30euro to 40euro differnce in locations of rooms ie:sea view facing and non-sea view facing. family room is an excellent size. spa facilities avaliable but specialists are on call only. golf, but have a distance to travel. being situated in kinsale there are many local place to visit and sites to see.

Jenna Burton on Tue Nov 29 2005

The location was excellent with all front rooms giving a sea view, the rooms were decorated lovely but all ensuites were very small. Nice leisure centre.

Elma Connelly on Tue Nov 29 2005

Would like to have spent another day here in Kinsale because of its beauty and the comfort of the facilities.

Ed Ratliff on Sun Jun 19 2005

Only problem was room needed refurbishing and bed was soft.
