Alexander Hotel

One of Dublin's finest hotels, the Alexander is renowned for its mix of traditional Irish hospitality and modern European elegance, set beside Merrion Square close to the popular sights of the city and the O2, Aviva Stadium and Grand Canal.

Situated five minutes walk from Dublin's museums and galleries and Dublin's famous Grafton Street, the Alexander is quite a recent hotel, though built sympathetically to the prestigious Georgian surroundings of Merrion Square, where you'll find Ireland's government buildings.

A friendly and hugely hospitable hotel, the Alexander displays class and relaxed elegance throughout its spacious lobby area and its restaurant; "Carravaggio's".

Each of the Alexander's guest rooms are spacious and well appointed, they are tastefully furnished and come with a full compliment of modern facilities, including individual climate control, wireless internet access and large beds.

At Carravaggio's traditional fare and contemporary menus are blended, reflecting the stylish surroundings of the hotel. The restaurant is a relaxed fine dining affair with delicious dishes.

The hotel's facilities also include a small gym and residents can avail of the facilities of three sister hotels nearby and bill back to their room at the Alexander.

Parking: €10.00 per 24 hours & €2.50 per hour thereafter

Guest Reviews of

the location was good. The staff were very helpful

Breakfast was not ready on time. The only hotel we had to pay for Internet.

No freshly squeezed orange juice ....

It felt like we were sleeping on aerobed (blow up air beds). For a hotel, it was quite a cheap feeling bed-wise, but the lobby was nice, breakfast was alright and we were able to walk to where we wanted to go. The shower had great water pressure as well.

2 years ago, myguideIreland put me in a different hotel which was merely okay. The Alexander was much preferable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Declan was extremely helpful in trying to locate Jay's luggage which arrived 2 days after we did.

When we arrived at the Alexander, we were told that there was no room available and was sent across the street to the Davenport. Our room was on the first floor directly across from a pub. The noise was unbearable until closing time. All other aspects of the hotel were exceptional but our enjoyment was greatly diminished by the noise.

We loved all the hotels, people and food in all locations.

Donna Hughes on Tue Sep 7 2010

Two nights spent on terrible "king" bed (two broken-down twin mattresses). Problem corrected late day of our last night. Paper roll holder was missing and grease spot on carpet, both of which we reported but were not corrected during our stay.

Friendly welcome. Luxury hotel perhaps a bit expensive for French guests but very good location. Very well equiped and nice furnitures

Excellent Dublin city centre location. More modern and contemporary feel to it both in public areas and rooms. More business feeling to it but sill not like a busy corporate hotel. Large lobby perfect for sitting reading a book or having a coffee and chat, relaxing and comfortable.

Joan O'Connell on Tue Nov 29 2005

old-style looking building-lovely exterior. welcoming homely & business feel to the public area with large comfortable sofas placed. many sites to be seen and much to do due to the great location of the hotel. rooms are of a decent size, modern but still cosy and comfortable. suitable for business and leisure. cosy pub.

Jenna Burton on Tue Nov 29 2005

the newest of the O'Callaghan group hotels, lobby was very welcoming with huge sofas that welcome the guest, where one could sit for a few hours watching the world go by, the rooms were spacious, staff were very helpful, food was very good.
