Ancaire Cottage is located in the heart of West Cork in a quiet
secluded area surrounded by wonderful farmland yet only 10 minutes walk
from Rossbrin Cove and the West Cork coastline. Three miles in one
direction is the pretty village of Ballydehob - great pubs, places to
eat, shops and fish & chips. Three miles in the other direction is
the town of Schull. The larger market town of Skibbereen is only 15
miles away.
Ancaire Cottage has been beautifully and lovingly
restored to a very high standard. It is located adjacent to the owners
own home yet once you walk through the gated archway into your holiday cottage private garden where you will never know that you have
neighbours.
What makes Ancaire Cottage standout is the care and
attention afforded to Guest who stay there. The front of the house
enjoys its own private patio area with built in barbecue. There is a
herb garden, glass house and vegetable patch and Guests are encouraged
to us whatever fruit, vegetable and herbs are in season during their
stay. Just nearby you will find the hen house and Guests can wander
down every morning to collect fresh eggs for their breakfast. When the owner is in residence in the main house she will deliver freshly baked bread to Guests each morning.
Ancaire Cottage has two large junior suite type
bedrooms with seating area, TV and DVD players. One is located on the
ground floor and the other upstairs via a staircase in the kitchen. The
bathroom is located downstairs adjacent to the utility room (shower room). There is also a laundry room off the kitchen. Although the
property does not have a separate living room the sheltered patio area
is the ideal place to sit on the balmy summer evenings enjoying the
views and the peace and quiet.
This cottage is a complete
get away from it all. Rossbrin Cove just down the road is a secret
hideaway watched over by its own crumbling 4th century castle. Out
below the cove are the islands of Roaringwater Bay. There's a boating
jetty at the other end of the cove to launch from. Rossbryn boat yard also hires out boats. In addition, the owners have a large sea going motor yacht and if convenient could take guests on trips around the island at a competitive price.
Exploring on foot
there are many little coves around the headland, most notably Shelly
cove, a tiny cove where the shingle is entirely made up of broken
shells. Also only ten minutes walk is the pretty Derenatra Harbour.
Furthermore, four bycylces are available for the use of Guests.
Further afield are the beaches of Toormore (white
sands, shallow water) and Barley Cove (surfing in icy waters). Mount
Gabriel for walking, towns like Baltimore, Skibbereen & Bantry.
Ilnacullin (Garnish Island) is a small island in Bantry Bay a few
hundred yards from Glengarriff Harbour. It is a beautiful island garden
thare are delightful all year around. Take a boat from Schull harbour
to one of the islands of Roaring water Bay.
