Our "Guest Stories" provide an opportunity for you to see what tailored itineraries our Guests have enjoyed for their self drive Ireland vacations .In this case, Jerry is planning to see a lot on this short trip. Check back here to see how his plans develop and how he enjoys his visit to Ireland.
First, I want to thank you and all of your staff for the pleasant experience of booking travel with you. Though all was booked very far in advance, there were no snags in the travel plans. You and your staff were most courteous and I would recommend your services to anyone traveling to Ireland. Hopefully, I will one day get to use your service again.

As you requested, here are my comments about our trip:

Days 1 and 2

Mystical Rose, Kilarney

Location – 4;     Hospitality/Service – 5

Room Standard – 5;     Food & Drink -5

Extra Facilities – N/A

Hotel Comments:

Our landlady is a lovely, smashing lady. She was very helpful. We arrived in Cork as scheduled, but our luggage did not! Noreen gave us shampoo, conditioner and even (and best of all) clean underwear!! Hospitality doesn’t get better than that. We had a wonderful full breakfast each morning. When we needed a cab, she called Moses, the cab driver for Walsh Killarney Tour & Taxi Service, for us. Moses was great. Due to miscommunications between my grandson an myself, we each thought the other had taken care of the fare when he dropped us off. As we discovered our error and turned round to pay him, he said not to worry, just to call him to pick us up and we could pay the total fare at that time! I don’t know of many cabbies who would be that trusting.

In speaking with our landlady we learned that she had postponed repairs to her kichten so that she could accommodate us because we had booked so well in advance. I don’t think anyone could find a better place to stay in Kilarney!

How were our days?

Wonderful! The first day we drove to Torc Falls and viewed Muckross House and the Lakes of Kilarney. Magnificent scenery! Our landlady told us sights to see and gave us a map.

The second day we drove the Ring of Kerry, which included a visit to the bog village, a very interesting stop on our route. We also toured The Barracks, very informational. We visited Rossbeigh Beach, and I once again fell in love with the sea. We climbed round Cathair Geal. We had lunch at Waterville and could tell why Charlie Chaplin loved it so much. The cold wind was fierce that day and nearly blew my granddaughter off a cliff! But the views were worth it. We ended our day with a pony cart ride in the rain.

Our brief tour of Killarney merely whet our appetites for more of Ireland.

Day 3

Rivervale, Mallow

Location – 4;    Hospitality/Service – 3

Room Standard – 5;     Food & Drink – 2

Extra Facilities – N/A

Hotel Comments:

The accommodation was lovely, top notch décor and cleanliness. It is a lovely location. Our host and hostess were gracious enough to allow us to check in early. We had to leave very early in the morning the next day in order to catch an early flight and, therefore, there was only bed, no breakfast. In all honesty, whilst I did not expect our hostess to arise in the wee hours and prepare a full breakfast, I was rather disappointed not to find some sandwiches or cold cereals or cereal bars and fruit waiting for us.

How was our day?

Mallow was my granddaughter’s father’s hometown, so this was the day to meet relatives she had never met and to visit her father’s grave and was the true reason for our Irish trip. We did have a look round Mallow Castle. We went to Blarney and had lunch at the Muskerry Arms. Very nice. This was St. Patrick’s Day and Blarney was alive an teeming. ‘Twas wonderful to be there on that day. We shopped at the Blarney Woolen Mill. My granddaughter’s auntie fixed me a hot Irish whiskey and I found another reason to love Ireland!

So, whilst we had only a short time in the Emerald Isle, we made the most of it.

I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any questions or want me to expand on anything, just let me know.

Thank you again for a lovely travel experience.

Sincerely,

Antounette Lucas
