Benners

Benners Hotel is situated in the centre of the colourful fishing port of Dingle, and presents old world charm to match the closely kept traditions of the Dingle Peninsula.

For over 200 years Benners Hotel has entertained travellers who have been drawn to this part of rural Ireland renowned for its old ways and rugged character, which seem to encapsulate a sense of the old country. And as the oldest hotel on the peninsula, Benners reflects the history and uniqueness of this special part of Ireland.

Benners is an elegant 19th Century town house hotel located on the main street in Dingle town. The hotel blends authentic Irish antiques and sympathetic decor with grace and old world style providing a captivating and cosy atmosphere with its intimate little lounges and traditional Mrs Benner's Bar, welcoming you as you enter.

The hotel has a selection of very well appointed and spacious bedrooms, furnished with attractive, homely fittings with an assured sense of relaxed luxury. Each is fitted with all the essential facilities and the bathrooms are equally spacious and well kept.

The hotel's restaurant, "Benners on the Lane" is an inviting and intimate restaurant, set with mahogany furnishings and deep red colours with candle lit tables illuminating crystal classes and silverware. One of the finest restaurants in town, Benners serves classic dishes specialising in seafood with the finest from the day's local catch, complimented by an excellent selection of wines.

Benners is ideally placed for exploring the wonderful Dingle Peninsula and immersing yourself in its traditions. From driving around the scenic Slea Head coast road, taking a trip out to the Blasket Islands, climbing Mount Brandon for its stunning panoramas or simply enjoying the craic with the locals in the pubs of Dingle Town.

Wir waren am Sonnabend dort. Durch die Lage im Zentrum ist man "nah dran am Lebensgefühl der Iren". Durch die Einrichtung hatte das Hotel einen "netten altmodischen Charme".

The hotel is very comfortable with a nice lounge area and pub (!) but is lacking style. The interior of the rooms very much reminded me of the hotels or B&Bs in Germany. The hotel is undergoing renovation at the moment. Some of the rooms are refurbished. Breakfast wasn't as good as I expected.
