The "here" in archaeologist Maire MacNeill's
comment about the string of mountains in Sligo includes the stunning peak of
Benwiskin. And at Benwiskin Bar, feasting and merriment are still the order of
the day.
In the adjoining Memory Harbour Lounge,
with its decor of rich autumn colors, plush leather sofas, heavy wooden tables,
and large oblong windows resides a stunning view of Sligo Bay and the tranquil
ambience of a cosy-but comfortably elegant-living room. Memory Harbour Lounge, (a
painting by Jack Yeats of a tragic, mysterious shipwreck on Rosses Point bears
the name Memory Harbour) is a place of genuine hospitality-a place to sit,
relax, enjoy the company of friends, all while luxuriating in the stunning
sight of Sligo Bay and Knocknarea.
Benwiskin Bar, in keeping with the
territory of kings, serves an extensive range of bar food every day:
mouth-watering seafood chowder a specialty. The menu also includes spicy wings,
plain and toasted sandwiches-served with fresh side salad-and heartier mains
for those royal appetites: Grilled Irish Rib Eye, Sea Food Platter (delicious),
and Pasta Malfatti. Sides of all types, desserts of every variety, coffees,
teas, and spirits complete a menu that is, indeed, fit for a king.
