Bertra has an exposed shore with a sandy substrate. Rocks and pebbles are deposited on the upper shore at times of spring tide. There are sand dunes present, which have been colonised by many different plant species.
There are no disabled facilities at the beach. The beach is life guarded throughout the bathing season. The beach is located 12km west of Westport.
