Hi Liz
We returned from Ireland on Monday evening. It was a great trip.
We enjoyed the tour and had a nice group and tour guide to travel with. And the weather cooperated, too — it was misty for a few minutes on one day only, then the rest of the days were partly sunny and cool — like fall here. I loved it! What a treat to get a break from the heat.

Ever wondered what makes the Irish so partial to a cup of tea?
Here, Summer of Travel writer Liz o’ Malley explains her experiences when travelling the South West of Ireland with the help of Barry’s finest amongst others….
I heard a statistic while in Ireland, that the Irish drink more tea per capita than any other country in Europe. I believe it, and I like it.
I come from Seattle, the caffeine capital of the U.S. It is the place where Starbucks was born, spawned from a culture of rainy, gloomy skies, thick arches of stoic forests, conditions that tuck people indoors, out of the wet cold, and around café tables. We love our coffee there - we love roasting it, we love the smell, we love the flavor.
Ireland has a similar marine climate, similar conditions of green and wetness. Read More

Begining on July 28th, Galway will host its annual 7 day world renowned horsing racing festival. The 2008 Galway Races promise to be a real spectacle in the Irish Horse Racing calendar and will attract some 200,000 race-goers to the Ballybrit venue over the course of the event.
The Festival has established itself as the pinnacle in Irish Racing and arguably the
most lavish, colourful and sociable fixture in the Irish Racing Calendar. Its not only the quality of racing that sets Galway apart, but the coming together of racing fanatic and party goer combine to make the atmosphere something that can only be experienced to fully appreciate. True Irish Craic is guaranteed not to mention the odd one or a dozen pints of Guinness!

Tripadvisor, the expedia owned travel review website, have just named their best destinations for 2008.
Dingle, or “An Daingean” as it is officially named, has been listed at number 18, the 6th European destination to be listed.
Dingle, which is in the extreme South West of Ireland, is part of the Irish Speaking Gaeltacht and is the most westerly town in Europe. Dingle is a popular tourist attraction for people who travel to Ireland as it retains the old world charm of an Irish fishing village.
One of the many tourist attractions in Dingle is Ireland’s most famous Dolphin, Fungie. Fungie is a mature male bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops Truncatus) and was first sighted in Dingle Harbour in early 1984. He is reputed to be the longest standing friendly solitary dolphin in the world.
An aquarium, Mara Beo (meaning ‘living sea’) overlooking the beautiful harbour is another of the many attractions in Dingle….
