Butler Arms Hotel

A warm and friendly, family run hotel, the Butler Arms offers refinement and fine food, situated in the seaside town of Waterville on the southern tip of the Ring of Kerry.

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and surrounded by the stunning scenery of the famous Ring of Kerry, the Butler Arms has been owned by the Huggard Family since 1915 and maintains an intimate atmosphere coupled with traditional Irish welcomes. An air of relaxed refinement permeates the Butler Arms, throughout the reception areas and lounge, with their elegant leather chairs, old-fashioned furnishings and traditional charm. While family photos throughout the rooms, maintain the intimate homely feel.

Each of the well appointed bedrooms at the Butler's Arms are very comfortable, spacious and tastefully decorated, boasting huge beds and lavishly laid out bathrooms. Most offer stunning views out to the sea, while lavishly set superior rooms have huge patio windows and some have balconies.

The Butler Arms is renowned for its excellent food. From high teas in the sun crusted Charlie Chaplin Lounge, named after the famous visitor, to the refined but relaxed surroundings of the hotel's award-winning restaurant, specialising in fresh seafood caught daily from the local waters. The atmospheric Fisherman's Bar, offers less formal dining, with a selection of high quality bar meals. In the evening this friendly bar comes to life and is a great place for mingling with the local characters.

The Butler Arms is well placed for exploring the outlying areas of south Kerry, such as Valentia Island and the World Heritage Site, Skellig Rocks, home to an early Christian monastic settlement and one of the biggest bird colonies in Europe.

A number of activities are also available around Waterville, from game fishing in nearby Lough Currane and deep sea angling or you could follow the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Tiger Woods and Michael Douglas and playing a few rounds on the famous Waterville Golf Club.

We stayed at Butler's Townhouse in Dublin, so I am guessing the Butler Arms if the same. If it's not, please note that the comments above are for Butler's Townhouse in Dublin.

Testimonials

"I just wanted to let you know our Ireland trip was fabulous!!
Thank you so much!
Your recommendation to Adare Manor was a top tip!
I went to Ashford Castle as well, it was very very nice to, but my preference is still Adare Manor.
I just wish that I had booked 2 nights there instead of just one.
The B&Bs were TOP too! Especially the one in Kilkieren up in Galway. Barbara was lovely and couldn't have done more to make our stay memorable.
The Hillside House is definately one you can recommend to anyone!" -- Silke
