Churchtown House

A historic 18th Century Country Manor, Churchtown House is a haven of tranquillity, set on 8 acres of farmland, close to Rosslare Ferry Port and Wexford Town.

Built in 1703, Churchtown House was associated with some of Wexford's most powerful families involved in the 1798 insurrection; notably the Herron Family whose son John Herron was exiled and later became one of Napoleon's favourite generals.

Churchtown House has been restored to its former glory mixing traditional elegance with country house charm, while its 8 acres of mature parkland and farmland provide a haven of peace and tranquillity. Large elegant reception rooms are hung with Irish paintings and furnished with period items, roaring fireplaces and cosy stove fires. While individually appointed bedrooms, free from cluttered items, give the impression that hotel residents are simply house guests during their stay.

Dinner at Churchtown House celebrates good country food cooked in a traditional style, and is matched with a personal selection of fine wines.

Churchtown House is an ideal base from which to explore the historic county of Wexford with an abundance of forts, castles, abbeys and sights of interest. While golf, blue flag beaches, bird watching, fishing and horse riding can all be enjoyed nearby.

Guest Reviews of Churchtown House

Very welcoming. The one hoel I would love to go back to. Like being a guest in a private house.

Excellent start and finish to the holiday ideal for rosslare port and we had a very pleasant stay

This hotel is in a beautiful setting. The breakfast menu was very good and was served in a really pleasant conservatory style dining room overlooking the gardens. The actual bedroom was very comfortable but the bathroom facilities were inadequate; the only complimentary item in the bathroom was a solitary shower cap and the shower over the bath was pitiful - the flow of water was so bad that I did not attempt to wash my hair there as I don't think that I would have been able to rinse it off properly.

We only had breakfast which was good, we cannot comment on any other food

Owner was great, very accommodating, made dinner reservations at a very good restaurant for us and arranged for a cab to pick us up. Breakfast was outstanding. The locations is beautiful but isolated, perfect for a quiet stay but not in walking distance of restaurants/pubs. It all depends on what you're looking for.

It was a lovely bed and breakfast, but boring for my 16 year old son

Once again, the owners are a joy.
