Davenport Hotel

great location

When we arrived at teh Davenport we were told we were being moved to one of their other hotels acrosss the street and they did not do a good job explaining why and how this happended. They offered to move us back to teh Davenport teh next night which I declined. Other than this initial (after a long flight) intriductiuon the rest of our stay was fine

just lovely. car park was a bit of a surprise as it had a keypad and a self operated car elevator a block away which I figured out (not as dumb as I look).

Did not use facilities. Room was large and easily accomodated three people. Only had desert and coffee but was good. Staff was very helpful with directions.

It was unfortunate that we never recieved messages from friends that we were looking forward to spending time with. Also, their business facilities left a lot to be desired (a computer and printer in the middle of the lobby).

The rooms were large and confortable, beds great. We left early in the morning, desk arranged breakfast for us in the bar before we left. Location was convenient. Good choice.

The hotel was over booked and they put is in a different hotel.

We were changed to another hotel.

It was good location and fine choice.

Good place to stay right in the heart of the city.

Way to many tours run through this hotel and it shows the wear. I would never recommend it to any of my acquatenances.

I would go back to the Davenport again.

I have mixed feelings regarding this hotel--I would stay there again, but I'd look elsewhere first. This is due to two primary reasons: one, the other 2 hotels were so much superior in all ways, and two, some of the staff shouldn't be in the "hospitality" field--we signed on for a Wicklow tour--nicely made by the desk staff on duty when we checked in. the night before, we tried to confirm the pick-up time with the staff and were told to read the brochure!

Our first two nights we stayed in the Davenport Hotel in Dublin. The hotel was very clean. The service was exceptional. And we would recommend to anyone that wants to stay in Dublin to stay at the Davenport Hotel.

Not sure of the cost, but we loved the Davenport....the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

there were no bellmen to help with bags food was ok

We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 teens) and are very active. The location of the Davenport is great if you are able to walk miles and miles to see the sites but I cannot imagine being able to manage the distance to the major attractions on foot if you are unable to walk that much. This should be mentioned in the brochure for less active families. Otherwise, it was quiet, clean, exceptionally comfortable, and beautiful!

Breakfast was disappointing. Mass-processed food prepared with little care. Excellent location in Dublin.

everything went very good. the one exception was we did not need a car as Dublin is a very difficult town to navigate around if you are not familiar with. I would suggest to your clients that if staying in town don't get a car. Our hotel was center to most all attractions and could have public travel at your finger tips. We thought we would travel outside of city but so much to see we never left town except to go to Power Court with our friend that lives in Dublin and we used his car. Thank you Dale & Mary Ann

Excellent place to stay.

They at first had us in a smoking room, but were able to switch us to a non-smoking room.

I would never stay at this hotel. The desk staff upon arrival gave me a smoking room on a smoking floor and then when I asked to be changed they said it was my fault because I didn't ask for a non-smoking room, the desk staff was very rude. You couldn't get through the lobby with all the tour bags, nor could I unload the car because of the tour buses parked in front. I asked for a small quaint hotel, this did not fit that description.

Great place to stay, the amenities were superb

Nice hotel. Comfortable beds. Quite accommodating after our flights were cancelled. Let us stay in our rooms and gave us Myguide price for extra days. Also let us use computer without charge.

We had a wonderful vacation and would recomend this hotel to our friends. The rooms we had where very clean and the staff excellent to deal with.

A definite perfect location. Close to everything. Food was amazing and so was the town.

The hotel was very nice and had a great location. Outside the hotel was the hop on and off bus which was very convenient. Unloading luggage and loading luggage was an interesting task since there is no loading or unloading spaces in front of hotel - only room for cabs. But other than that, would stay there again and suggest to others!

There was a wedding event the night we stand and we could hear the band in our room on the third floor. When I called and asked how long the music would continue, I was told until 12:30 a.m. We didn't get a good sleep our last night because of this.

I had trouble finding the hotel

The staff here was wonderful and so helpful and patient with our lack of knowledge. One thing though, there was mold on the bathroom ceiling which is a health hazard. We could have changed rooms but opted to stay be- cause we liked the room but a little bleach could have removed the mold.

Well situated, full of history and charm and staff most helpful

Very nice hotel... we were so pleased with the accommodations.

Only problem we had with hotel was we were not able to keep window open at night due to active bar night life right below window. Room got very warm.

this hotel is situated close enough to Dublin you can walk but far enough that you aren't in the middle of all of the traffic.

Would try a more upscale hotel next time in same chain or the Bentley or Shelburne.

The front desk was spotty with information about basic things like Sunday mass and nearby banks - and could step up the hospitality. However, we would stay there again.

Enjoyed everything about this hotel

Looks a little rundown on the exterior but interior is nice and service was acceptable.

I think my experience was colored by the fact that I did not enjoy Dublin. For the money for the hotel, the location was great. However, the room seemed small and the accomodation was only fair.

We were glad to have air conditioning - great location - very nice staff.

extremly difficult to find because of traffic. would highly recommend NO driving in Dublin. Tour bus a great help.

The staff was wonderful - we were allowed to check into our room at 7 a.m., the desk staff helped with directions and answered all of our questions. Breakfast was exceptional. The location was very accessible. We cannot say enough good things about our experience there.

Would recommend this hotel.

Hotel comfortable, staff friendly and helpful, situated well within walking distance of city attractions. Enjoyed bus tour, guides very knowledgeable at all places we visited.

Beautiful central location. We were there such a short amount of time that we probably could have done something a little less extravagant.

Directions on how to find the Davenport. Luckly, Ireland does a great job with signage. The only address on the paperwork was Marrion Square, thats a big place if you don't know your way around.

Pretty average, a nice B&B would likely have been nicer. Parking was a real challenge to find & use. Hotel is not on Merriam Square as address says.

Did not find majority of staff to be very helpful. Rooms rather worn. Food mediocre

Location was good. Public areas nice but the room was really small. We asked the receptionist about dinner and a show reservations and she said we didn't need them. We were turned away so our last evening in Dublin was somewhat disappointing.

I appreciated that the staff provided rooms early for our older travelers

There were four of us travelling so we needed four beds. hotel had us booked in two rooms with one bed in each room. They moved us to two very small rooms with twin beds. Window in both rooms overlooked air shaft. We could see other rooms with two beds that were much larger. Otherwise, OK.

O'Callaghan Alexander in Dublin: The desk clerks were fantastic - helped way beyond the norm. The servers for breakfast were alright, but not really attentive. Our room was great!

Value for money tough to answer since land costs were not itemized

The hotel parking was offsite and we had a challenging time getting into the car park past the security gate, barriers and car lift. Otherwise a very hight standard hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful.

What a way to enter Ireland for a first time traveler. Excellent!

For a Dublin City hotel I guess it was ok! We were also tired from the trip and 4 of the 8 persons did not have their luggage yet! The reception and staff were very accommodating and agreed to forward any calls from the airlines to Waterford or Dan....for some reason my GSM cell would not charge when I got to Ireland so we were without any real communication. When necessary, however, Dan's phone could be used....I did for contacting the airport on two occasions. The Davenport and Waterford Castle also allowed us to call the BAggage service carrier for Delta and continental. Breakfast her was acceptable, but not comparable to the Castles. Our room appeared to have had smokers previously and Ruth had some difficulty (she has asthma) when in the room. The other folks did not complain and we did not notice it in Kevin's room. There was only a small fitness facility here.

The hotel was nice. The people were very helpful with booking a tour, getting taxis's for us, offering advise of making our site seeing enjoyable. But they were more than helpful, they made you feel at home. The food in the adjoining resturant was a little more expensive than we thought. I did not expect the hotel to charge a fee for exchanging money. I would have thought that this was a courtesty for guest. But all in all it was a pleasant stay.

A lovely hotel in a great location. Our room was clean and inviting. Only comment would be that there needed to be some repairs made to some of the woodwork in the bathroom and also in the main room.

Small rooms, dark interiors in parts of hotel. some issues with areas of hotel looking worn and tired. All in all a good option for 3 stars in a great location.

Excellent location, but we had a difficult time finding it. We spent 2 hours driving around Dublin. We missed a turn and could not find our way back, even with 3 different maps. There was a lot of traffic and many one way streets. I would suggest to people to drop the car off at airport and take the Blue bus back into town. We did not do this because of the 2 elderly people with us, thought it would be better to get them settled in hotel. It would have taken less time and a lot less aggrevation to deliver car first, but that was our mistake, not yours.

It was a very nice hotel, we didn't partake of room service or the restaurant so I can't speak to those things.

Initially difficult to find.

We loved the smaller hotel but the pub was a bit outdated and small tv didn't bode well for watching the World Cup. Quiet and well located near the museums, buses and all major areas of interest was a definite plus.

I would never recommend this place to anyone. There front desk was so unorganized. They couldn't find our second reservation and by the time they got us settled, there were 4 floors between our 2 rooms. I don't think I would ever recommend anyone to stay within Dublin (just go visit it if it's a must).

The Davenport is a beautiful hotel in the center of Dublin, i can definetely recommend that hotel to everybody.

Very good location. Luxury hotel. A bit expensive for French guests

The hotel staff was wonderful. They went out of their way to make Christmas special for their guests, and the entertainment offered Christmas night was really fun. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend the hotel to our friends.

Excellent Dublin city centre location. Nice atmosphere in public areas. Traditional feel not like busy city business hotel. Rooms tradional dark furniture good size. All over warm relaxed feeling

classy. presedential bar is sophisticated. spacious rooms with plenty of luggage space. large bathrooms. well presented public areas. bedrooms are not too modern, not too irish counrty style either. a feel of traditional elegance.

Another of the O'Callaghans group hotels situated in the centre of dublin with in walking distance the stephens green and Trinity College and the main shopping streets of Dublin,. It is a traditional style hotel oferring very comfortable rooms all with ensuites.

we loved the Davenport. It was expensive, but worth it. Great location for touring on buses and shopping, and eatting. Ireland was great. All of it.
