Deer Park

Located on a quiet hillside overlooking the Dublin coastline, the Deer Park is a relaxing hotel set with an 18-hole golf course, 12km from Dublin city centre, airport and ferry ports.

Situated beside the small fishing town of Howth, 30 minutes drive from Dublin, Deer Park Hotel is approached along a winding tree lined road, taking you past Howth Castle, home to the St. Lawrence family for 800 years. The hotel stands within 400 acres of parkland on a hill surrounded by its 18-hole golf course, overlooking the sea and Ireland's Eye.

The Deer Park Hotel has a relaxed country club atmosphere, with unpretentious if slightly dated decor. Its guestrooms are very generously proportioned, set with large beds, relaxing decor and equipped with all the usual essentials.

The hotel's facilities include Four Earls restaurant with a comprehensive menu and wine list and a leisure centre equipped with a 17m swimming pool, sauna, steam room and two all weather tennis courts. The Deer Park has a selection of parkland golf courses, a challenging 6778 yard 18 hole course, two nine hole courses and a short course, and of course a 19th hole at the friendly club house bar.

The Deer Park offers excellent value and good hospitality in a location that is great for access to the airport and ferry port, and while the bustling centre of Dublin is just 12 km away with easy access via Dublin's rail system; the DART, Deer Park is far enough to escape into more peaceful surroundings.

Guest Reviews of Deer Park

The hotel had a funny smell (it reminded me of the milk cooler at the Catholic School I attended as a child), and the bed was extremely uncomfortable.

We spent only one night here and checked in late. The hotel is a sporting club (for golfers) and we are not golfers. The rhododendrons were not in bloom. Thus, we cannot evaluate the service, cuisine, potential walks, etc. We would like very much to revisit the hotel on June 17.

Outstanding lcoation and could overlook the other if I palyed golf. But I do not. The plumbinmg leaked. The elctric plugs were different from all other plugsi in Ireland and the people staffing were very young and had no authority. I would under no circumstances stay there again.

We were disappointed with this hotel for several reasons. Again, we were given a smoking room. The furnishings in the room were out of date and there was a burn mark on the blanket. Also, there appeared to be a smoking station adjacent to our room which did not increase our enjoyment of the room. The grounds of the golf course were lovely and we probably would have enjoyed the hotel more if we had planned on golfing. It was also a long walk from the bus station to the hotel carrying suvenirs from Dublin around. The hotel staff was generally pleasant. However, we had planned on eating at the bar the last night of our stay and were told during the middle of the food service hours that the bar was done serving food. The hotel restaurant was closed as well. We made do with food out of the vending machine that night. They did call for a taxi to take us to the airport in the morning.
