Dingle Marine Eco Tour

Blasket IslandsAccording to the National Geographic Traveller, Dingle is "the most beautiful place on earth". Bounded on three sides by the sea, Dingle combines in its landscapes the ruggedness of rocky outcrops and cliffs with the soft shapes of hills and mountains, skirted by coastal lowlands. The scenery is what the Dingle experience is all about: the view of the Blasket Islands from Slea Head; the harbours, mountains, cliffs and strands; the view from the Connor Pass. Indeed, every part of the Dingle peninsula offers dramatic views of its unforgiving, yet outstanding scenery.

myguideIreland recommends The Dingle Marine Eco Tour. This will take you out into the shelter of Dingle Bay and along the coves and cliffs of the southern coast of the peninsula, a world where nature is supreme.

Dunquin PierThe west-bound journey turns at the old harbour beacon and sails past sheer cliffs, crowned by the ancient fort at Eask. The boat continues past Ventry harbour until the stone walls of Dunbeg fort stand out on the cliff-tops and the Blasket Islands rise in the sea just off the tip of the peninsula.
Turning east at the Lighthouse which marks the entrance to Dingle harbour, the second route sails past sandy beaches and round the massive bulk of Bull's Head, passing by sea stacks and cliffs made from the oldest rocks in Munster. Beyond the castle overlooking Minard strand, the magical range of sand-dunes in the far corner of the Bay sweeps into view.

Trips set off in settled weather and last for about 2 hours. The 15 metre boats are provided with a passenger lounge and deck and offer refreshments. With full safety equipment to Dept. of the Marine standards, the boats are licensed to carry up to 50 people. They have been commissioned and built to ensure comfort and safety on board and are skippered by local seamen with long experience of these waters.
