Dun Laoghaire

header.jpg Perhaps Ireland's oldest town, Dun Laoghaire is a port situated just 7 miles south of Dublin city , easily accessible by DART and buses .

The town is named after its founder, the High King of Ireland in the Fifth century - King Laoghaire - who used the area as his sea-fort (Dun) for raiding into Britain and France. This was the King who allowed Saint Patrick travel the land preaching the Christian message.

town-hall.jpg With festivals virtually every week from the June to September and many in the autumn and winter months, the port-town is now serving as the leisure town adjacent to Dublin city. Quality entertainment is the style of this rapidly developing town which boasts such attractions as the National Maritime Museum of Ireland, the James Joyce Tower and Dun Laoghaire harbour with its East Pier promenade .

Testimonials

"Sorry this is so late but I just wanted to say Thank you so much for planning such a wonderful trip! We enjoyed every aspect of it. I just wanted to let you know that the tax on the Bed & Breakfast's was a Dublin tax." -- Audrey
