Forster Court

Forster Court is a cosmopolitan hotel in the centre of lively Galway and is ideal for sampling the delights of this upbeat town and the splendid Connemara countryside surrounding it.

A relatively modern addition to the City of the Tribes, the Forster Court offers location, style and modern comfort to reflect the ambiance of this vibrant town.

The Forster Court's bedrooms are tastefully decorated and fitted to high standards. They come equipped with all the necessary facilities as well as sizable and very comfortable beds and spacious luxurious bathrooms.

The hotel has an intimate little restaurant, Elwood's Restaurant, with a cosmopolitan menu, accomplished chef and candlelight. One of the main features of Forster Court is Morgan's Bar, a stylish and spacious cocktail bar with an award-winning menu. Here you can enjoy the craic with Galway's friendly locals over a few pints.

The Capital of the West, Galway is a thriving cosmopolitan city and the centre of culture for this part of Ireland, with an excellent array of theatre and arts, shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars and pubs. Galway is a town with a rich and fascinating heritage and a number of historic landmarks throughout from its fabulous cathedral and the famous Claddagh. The surrounding area contains some of Ireland's most romantic landscapes from the rugged mountains and bog lands of Connemara to the isolated Aran Islands.

Forster Court is well placed for exploring all this and you will find information and booking at the Tourist Information Centre situated right next to the hotel.

Guest Reviews of Forster Court

It was old, but somewhat dreary, esp our room. I was disappointed.

Anne Safrath on Fri Nov 14 2008

This was the worst hotel. Suffering from nicotine staining on decor and scented candles burning in foyer and toilets to try to disguise smell. Outside of hotel, front doors etc, also grubby and not at all inviting. On arrival offered a smoking room 3 times, despite my refusal. Receptionist kept asking us to look at room as he did not think it had any smoking odour. I asked if a smoking room had been booked for us and he said no but it was the only one ready. Advised the receptionist I was happy to return later and have the room which had been allocated and this was agreed. Breakfast in the dingy dining room was dreadful and we didn't bother with it on day 2.

I was very disappointed in the Forster Court. I can attribute some of it to jet lag, but the first rooms we were assigned were smoking rooms. The second set of rooms were okay, but Celeste had a very hard time managing the shower facilities. Her husband put the luggage holder into the tub so she could wash. I asked to have our hotel changed and we were told that the Meyrick had rooms in our name, but when my husband went over there they had no such accommodations, so we stayed at the Forster. The beds had a definite visual sway toward the middle, but our backs didn't bother us, so we stayed. I'm sure some of the blame lies with me; perhaps I didn't stress that Celeste was completely dependent on the scooter, even to the extent of using the bathroom and getting around the room.

Great location, but needs updating. Nice staff in hotel and bar, breakfasts were very good

A little bit out of the way from the Airport. Difficult to find.As it was late the front of the hotel was not lit and the doors were all locked. Good rooms and good breakfast. Staff were helpful once we got into the hotel.

First impression, run down and dirty. Hotel staff at front, busier talking on the phone, than greeting customers. Gloomy room, and very warm, did not seem like ventilation system worked properly. Would not want to stay there again. Especially with the "water/bacteria" problems.

Gute zentrumsnahe Lage, trotzdem ruhiges Zimmer. Das Parken des Autos erfolgte zwar in einem öffentlichen Parkhaus, jedoch in einem bewachten Bereich und man hatte als Hotelgast Sonderbonus bei den Gebühren.

Dark hallways could use more light Some worn areas of carpets and wall coverings Very good hotel option though

City centre location. Late night bar at the weekend will attract a party crowd. Modern funky decor.

Well located but with a business style.

I would recommend this hotel for younger people who want to have fun and go out.

Amela Cardaklija on Wed Feb 22 2006

situated at the end of the square. it is one of the cheeper hotels and it was clear enough to see why.bedrooms and bathrooms small- definately not suited for a long stay. modern bar and restuarant ( too small). no leisure facilities although the town is two mins walk so there is plently to do in the city sentre. arty. suited for the younger travelleres. mainly hen and stag parties on weekends

The Forster Court was a bit different to the rest Centrally located off Eyre Square was the best thing about it. The rooms were small and very darkly decorated. this apperaed the be a cheap hotel suited more to the partying type.

It was very convient location and the restaurant next door was a nice bonus.

Karen Sullivan on Tue Jun 21 2005

This location couldn't have been better for me, as I was a few steps away from the Tourist office and the bus collection area, and just across the street from a Catholic church.
