Hotel Meyrick

One of Ireland's most reputable hotels, Hotel Meyrick is something of an institution. Situated very much in the heart of the city, this elegant Victorian hotel is Galway's finest with a long and illustrious history.

Built in 1845 on Eyre Square in the heart of Galway City, Hotel Meyrick has played an integral part in the life of the city for over 150 years. Today the hotel combines its original Victorian features together with modern facilities in sophisticated fashion and the charm and traditional hospitality of the hotel still remains one of its hallmarks.

The hotel immediately impresses with the refined setting of its grand lobby, with elegant marble fireplace, chandeliers and the tinkling of a grand piano in the background. Wide corridors throughout the hotel are a reminder of days gone by, originally designed to accommodate ladies in their wide ball-gowns.

Each of the hotel's bedrooms are decorated with sumptuous modern fittings yet retain the traditional feel of the Hotel Meyrick. Elegant furnishings, fine fabrics, luxuriant beds, marble bathrooms and a very close attention to detail can be found within spacious rooms. Hotel Meyrick also has a number of exclusive VIP suites, offering the ultimate in luxury accommodation, with no expense spared.

The hotel's Oyster Room Restaurant is widely renowned for fine dining, a multi award-winning restaurant with an extensive menu, excellent service and elegant surroundings. In less formal settings, O'Flaherty's bar, one of Galway's favourite pubs, serves a good range of bistro style food, while the drinking options extend to the hotel's sumptuous cocktail bar; Croi na G.

Located at the very top of the hotel is the Hotel Meyrick's leisure club, the Square Spa & Health Club equipped with state of the art gym, steam room and monsoon shower, Jacuzzi and outdoor Canadian hot tub with magnificent views across the city. The Spa also offers a range of beauty treatments and hydrotherapies.

With its hospitality, quality and reputation, Hotel Meyrick offers a unique stay in a unique city.

Guest Reviews of Hotel Meyrick

The staff here was exceptional. I had an accidental fall on my first day in the hotel. The staff was very concerned and helpful. Fortunately I wasn't seriously hurt on my first day in Ireland.

Pat Waterfield on Fri Aug 29 2008

accommodations acceptable; room size small, but that is typical of hotels in cities. Staff friendly and accommodating. Location very convenient for sightseeing in city and for rail travel, as railroad could be reached directly from hotel.

Barbara Truel on Fri Aug 22 2008

Due to Aer Lingus cancelling our outbound flight for a day, we missed this hotel completely.

Molly Wilson on Tue Jul 15 2008

Small rooms that still could be nice but need refurbishment.

Paula Kimball on Tue Jul 8 2008

Facility were under construction and their was no place to eat in the hotel. Also, the water wasnt working on some of the floors so we had share our room so that members of our party could shower in our room. AND the hotel NEVER COMPENSATED the rooms without water.

Wonderful meeting place.

Joy Davis on Wed Aug 1 2007

We were quite surprised that there was no air conditioning in the hotel but fans were provided to us. The breakfast buffet selection was outstanding.

Mary Humenic on Thu Jun 21 2007

We loved the location and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

Donna Jones on Fri Jun 8 2007

Very good gym for American Guests. One of the best ones I've ever used in Ireland actually. Most gyms tend to be geared towards use by women, and this one had free weights and would appeal to both sexes

Sean Kelly on Thu Dec 14 2006

Rooms were too warm. No possibility to regulate the temperature.

Sylvie Quemeneur on Wed Dec 13 2006

two bars- one is like an old mans pub (quiet drinking) the other is a bit more modern. mainly square views. spacious corridors but rooms not too big- city centre hotels tend to have smaller rooms.modern rooms although they do have some classic victorian features. internet in the rooms

Jenna Burton on Tue Nov 29 2005

Situated in the middle of Eyre Square the rooms were all large, the bar had an entrance from the street which left it open to the public. The gym was very good with added bonus of the canadian hottub
