This 10 day tour gives the unique opportunity to visit the the west coast of Ireland and it's beautiful off shore islands. Visit the Aran Islands and the Achill Island, see Ireland's highest cliffs, the Slieve League sea cliffs and take a catamaran cruise to Ireland's only fjord!
Day 1: Depart U.S. for Dublin
Take an overnight flight across the Atlantic and relax as you start your vacation.
Day 2: Dublin Castle & City Tour
Arrive in Dublin Airport where CIE Tours desk will arrange a group transfer to your hotel between 7:00 am and 12:00 noon. At 2:00 pm take atour around central Dublin. Visit Dublin Castle's elegant Georgian State Apartments. Discuss your itinerary with your guide over a welcome drink.
Day 3: Ulster American Folk Park Travel north to visit the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh. Learn about Ulster emigrants and see how they lived in the "Old Country" before they settling in the "New World". Drive to Donegal town to meet your Irish hosts and dine with them. (B, D)
Day 4: Slieve League Cliffs & Donegal Tweed
View Slieve League sea cliffs, which drop from a height of 1,972 feet. Continue through the majestic Glengesh Pass to Ardara. Visit Triona Design to see how wool is processed and sample tea with scones. Spend free time in Donegal town and enjoy dinner with traditional music. (B, D)
Day 5: Belleek & Museum of Country Life
Tour the Belleek Pottery Factory to see how the craftspeople create fine china. Then view the grave of the Nobel-winning writer, W. B. Yeats. Visit the Museum of Country Life in Castlebar to see domestic goods, used in daily life from 1850 to 1950. A short drive takes you to your hotel in Westport. (B, D)
Day 6: Achill Island & Deserted Famine Village
This morning travel to Achill Island and follow the Atlantic Drive to capture wonderful views of mountains and golden beaches. Near Slievemore see the Deserted Village abandoned in the 1840's Famine. Return to Westport for free time and after dinner explore some of the local pubs. (B, D)
Day 7: Catamaran Cruise & Clifden
Drive to Killary Harbour, Ireland's only fjord. Take a short catamaran cruise to see unspoiled mountain areas and traces of pre-Famine fields. Travel through Connemara to Clifden. Check into your hotel and dine in the cozy Station House Pub live traditional music. (B, D)
Day 8: Aran Islands & Dun Aengus
Take a short ferry ride to Inis Mor, the largest of the three Aran Islands. These Tour Dun Aengus, a huge fortress perched on sheer cliffs. In Kilronan visit the Aran Heritage Centre to learn about local customs before returning to Clifden. (B, D)
Day 9: Ennis Friary & Walking Tour
In Galway City look at the Spanish Arch and Galway Cathedral. Continue to Ennis for a short guided walk through Ennis Friary and historic town center. Check in to your hotel and enjoy a farewell dinner. (B, D)
Day 10: Return Home from Shannon
This morning take a taxi transfer to Shannon Airport in good time for your flight home. (B)
