A very extensive sandy beach and dune system. The whole area is protected and is a Special Area of Conservation. Beach is located 3 miles north of Castlegregory on the Magherees Peninsula. The area is composed of Carboniferous limestone and the area in general including the islands off the coast are important wintering grounds for birds including Brent and Barnacle Geese.
