Guest Reviews of

Location was great. Beds comfy and liked the old world style of hotel. Rooms were on the small side but not tiny. Service in the bar was OK but occasionally no one was there to serve you.

Gail Williams on Tue Jul 26 2011

The staff were so very accommodating. They let us use the whole bar area when our relatives came to meet us after hours. They were wonderful!

Brenda Dazey on Mon Jul 25 2011

Great location and service, food etc...the only improvement I would offer is their charge for wifi is quite high...in fact this was the only place where we had to pay for wi-fi it was free in the other hotel and B&B

Patrick Mccruden on Tue Jul 19 2011

We were disappointed to find that there was no restaurant on site (except for breakfast).

Mary Jane Hartman on Fri Jun 24 2011

Small rooms and very basic accomodations. Breakfast was good though.

Jeff Ares on Thu Jun 23 2011

Pleased by your choice in Dublin in all respects, a standard + business and tourist hotel with more than adequate rooms and service.

Mr Tom Oliver on Fri May 13 2011

Nicely located in the middle of Dublin. Within walking distance for several attractions.

Christina St. Charles on Thu May 12 2011

Wonderful - especially the lovely lady from Poland who served us at breakfast.

Mary F Blasier on Thu May 5 2011

A very comfortable visit in pleasant surroundings. The location gave ready access to a fascinating city.

Donald Keane on Tue Apr 19 2011

A bit shabby, shower didn't work, couldn't control temperature, lift was broke for two days and we were on thrid floor.

Charles Voeltzel on Wed Mar 30 2011

Great staff, very satisfactory stay.

Colleen Eren on Wed Mar 30 2011

I stayed at Mont Clare Hotel, Dublin my first three days in Ireland. The three days was meant for rest and to prepare myself for the following 15 days of driving, etc. and, at the same time, do a leisurely paced, self-guided walking tours of Dublin. I got lots of rest and was able to walk to the sights close to the hotel. Got to the hotel early (10 a.m.) and expected to wait until 3 p.m. for a room. However, a room was available and was allowed to check-in immediately. This was nice since I decided to take the bus from the airport and lugged my luggage for quite a distance before finding the hotel. I planned, was ready and willing to "get lost" and lug my luggage around until I found the hotel. Nevertheless, it was nice that I was able to rest as soon as I arrived at the hotel rather than having to wait until the regular check-in time. Other than the lift acting up (i.e. did not work on the day I checked out) everything about the hotel was satisfactory. The front desk staff were very helpful in answering my questions and giving directions.

Ray Abella on Wed Mar 30 2011

Mont Clare Hotel sent us to the Alexandria. Staff member was rude. The B and Bs were atough act to follow. Staff at Alexandria much more helpful. Hospitality at Mont Clare Hotel was zero. Hospitality at Alexandria a four

Trevor Blair on Fri Mar 25 2011

This hotel was terrible. I found them to be most unhelpful. The room was tiny, the bathroom was not very clean, and we had to pay for basic items that were offered to us everywhere else for no extra cost. We called and let them know we were leaving early to stay closer to the airport we were flying out of Saturday. We called trying to find out who to talk to to get train and bus schedules. They gave us incorrect information. They also held out on the business center we should have been able to use across the street and had us leave with no way to get to our next destination. I would prefer my money back on this stay they treated me terribly and we didn't get to see any of Dublin because of this. We also have no desire to go to Dublin when we return to Ireland. Please don't send anyone else there. The sister hotel across the street was much better than this. They offered the help we were seeking and kindness and compassion for the situation. I wish I had her name. She made difference but not enough to get me to return to that horrid city with poor service.

Melissa Beard on Tue Nov 2 2010

Hard to reach with the Dublin Marathon. Would have liked to know about this event going on.

Donna Pryor on Tue Nov 2 2010

This hotel was full and they sent us to St Stevens green, perfect location and accomodations

Betty Brown on Mon Nov 1 2010

Great location--would stay here again.

Colleen Talley on Wed Oct 27 2010

The staff was not that friendly at all. The directions they gave me for their car park, that was 3 blocks away, were terrible!

Gregory Wemple on Wed Oct 20 2010

A great hotel for starting one's vacation. It was within walking distance of all the historic sites, the room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was cooked to our taste. The staff were knowledgable and friendly.

Marcel Jonckheere on Mon Oct 11 2010

The Mont Clare Hotel is simply stunning! Centrally located in Dublin's City Centre, it features gorgeous architectural elements, an elegantly furnished lobby, and clean, tasteful rooms. Sleeping accommodations were very nice, with comfortable beds, fluffy pillows, and crisp sheets. All the amenities are provided for the weary traveler. My only reservation about staying there again is that it does not offer wireless internet access in the rooms, so using a laptop for work can be done only in the lobby area, which was happily provided by the friendly staff but is a bit inconvenient. Also, because the restaurant serves only breakfast, guests must go elsewhere for dinner, and in Dublin, there are many options. Although the breakfast menu is absolutely perfect, I would have preferred to be able to see the sights then eat a nice dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Joy Davis on Mon Sep 27 2010

Beautiful hotel. Very near heart of Dublin and many of the attractions. Blarney Inn just up the street serves an amazing seafood chowder.

Chrisy Rineer on Tue Sep 14 2010

Location was PERFECT for getting the Hop on Hop off bus! Lots to see around the area and Kennedy's around the corner was awesome for dinner!

Mr James Schonlau on Mon Sep 13 2010

Very nice..good location

Donna Macisaac on Tue Sep 7 2010

The location was great for our last night and we enjoyed walking through the Temple district. Service was excellent and the stay was perfect for leaving the next day,

Ms Irene Rademeyer on Mon Sep 6 2010

Very helpful staff. Easy walking distance to attractions and dining.

Nesher Asner on Sun Sep 5 2010

Your listing needs updating for this hotel. It no longer has a "lively " pub. It is closed. Also, the Restaurant only serves breakfast, a very good one. It is necessary to visit their other hotels for any food service. Rooms were just OK,not the cleanest. Staff was excellent.

John Mcgrath on Wed Sep 1 2010

A comfortable spot to crash after long days of walking around Dublin

Kathleen Turner on Wed Sep 1 2010

Absolutely beautiful hotel, great location, wonderful, efficient, and friendly staff. Excellent buffet breakfast in the morning. Absolutely no complaints at all!!

Skov on Tue Aug 31 2010

Our room view was really, really bad. The mattress was not very comfortable and we paid for internet that was mostly unuseable. The room needed updated...BUT, those are minor things. Overall, we were very happy with this hotel.

Susan Rourke on Tue Aug 31 2010

Older hotel but good value and in an excellent location to get around Dublin and see all the sights.

Gail Firth on Wed Aug 4 2010

Again, the staff made this hotel exceptional because each individual was so accommodating! The breakfast buffet was so-so, and there was no other restaurant in the hotel, but the staff always excellent suggestions for dinners and were ALWAYS super helpful and pleasant.

Rosemarie Spitaleri on Mon Jul 19 2010

For a hotel of this caliber, I wouldn't have expected to have to pay to use the internet. They charged 12.95 Euros for 24 hours of internet service.

Sherry Clark on Tue Jul 13 2010

Nice hotel - though food and beverage service being split between 2 facilities a bit cumbersome in trying to remember where and when they were serving. Very helpful staff and comfortable room.

Sheila Schaefer on Mon Jul 12 2010

Great location to get around Dublin.

Dave Smith on Mon Jul 12 2010

Maria was wonderful as she greeted us and made us feel welcome and on our return trip she provided us with ideas for our time in Dublin

Michael Foley on Sun Jul 11 2010

The young lady who checked us in on our arrival was wonderful. The accomidations were not. To start our vacation off at this Hotel made me a little uneasy as to what was to come. The location was fine, the food was o.k. Our room was small with little room for more than a double bed and a small bath. The only plus was the nice large window that could be opened up to circulate the air. That was a plus.

Mrs Peggy Russell on Fri Jul 9 2010

The staff at the Mont Clare were wonderful. They even allowed us to use the Lounge area after hours, when the bar was closed, for a family "get-together". It was wonderful!

Brenda Dazey on Tue Jul 6 2010

The room was nice, a tad small. The hot water was incredible. However, there was no ice machine, perhaps this is a cultural issue but it was annoying not having ice water when I wanted it. The air conditioning was awful. Luckily it wasn't too hot during our stay in mid June but I wouldn't want to stay there in July or August. The staff was helpful. I would certainly use myguideireland again but might request a different hotel.

Gary Leydon on Tue Jun 22 2010

The internet in our room didn't work. I had homework i had to turn in and ended up having to do my homework in the lobby which was annoying. but other than that the hotel was really great. They let us check in super early on Monday which was a lifesaver after a 12 hour flight.

Kathleen Tucker on Tue Jun 15 2010

I personally would not have booked at this hotel. It is old and needs upgrading.

Eunice Carvajal on Sat Jun 12 2010

Air conditioning didn't work, rooms were very warm. Reception kindly provided us with fans. Rooms and corridors very dark and uninviting. Lumpy beds, not enough pillows. Breakfast was buffet, quality only fair. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Bar was "closed due to the economy"! We went to the sister property across the street for a drink. Mont Clare is definitely a budget property in a great location. It was fine for two nights but I wouldn't want to stay any longer.

Christianne Chase on Thu Jun 10 2010

Clean and comfortable, pleasant staff. Convenient location. Would certainly recommend it

Jocelyn Alder on Mon Jun 7 2010

Hotel definately needs some updating. Same spreads on beds as when we stayed 7 years ago. Lighting very dim and hard to see in bathroom. Dusty cupboard we were seated next to in dining room gave appearance of neglect.

Joyce Alcorn on Thu May 27 2010

Very good. Loved the place and staff.

Ron Gough on Tue Apr 13 2010

We were very satisfied!

Lothar Mueller on Tue Apr 13 2010

The front desk staff was very friendly, directed us to a laundry service, made dinner reservations for us and answered all our questions. A very positive experience. The staff in the dining room, were more than gracious as I heard them answer the same question many times. A very pleasant experience!

Paige Patterson on Wed Apr 7 2010

The room was good, small but i wasnt staying there but to sleep only. It was very nice, Although the bathroom door knob was loose and it took forever for the hot water to come through. all in all the hotel was good.

Ms Micheline St-pierre on Mon Mar 29 2010

We enjoyed this hotel. It was a central location so we were able to walk to the hop on buses, park, Temple Bar, the mall and Grafton Street. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The currency convert was helpful as well.

Jaime Hunter on Tue Feb 23 2010

The Mont Clare was closed when we arrived. A couple on the street told us to try the Davenport which was across the street. Our room was switched to there without us knowing. The Davenport was great although it was a decent walk into the city center. We would stay there again.

Frank Pezzello on Mon Jan 4 2010

Mont Claire for the most part was a delight. Our bathroom fan didn't work, and the shower flooded a bit, but believe it was our fault to not report it. (we were tired from the trip and just wanted to settle in) The staff at the front desk were wonderful. They were extremely helpful in suggesting what ended up being wonderful restaurants (ie:Hugo's) and most helpful in getting back to the airport for our car, etc. It was a nice experience there. I see my next step is "Finish Review"-so I'm not sure if I'll have a chance to comment more. We were dissatisfied with Hertz-they were giving us a car that would not even fit our luggage. I upgraded, and had many difficulties with that, our GPS system did not work-was faulty(they deducted that charge) but all in all, I felt Hertz was not good at all. BUT, thanks for everything-most everthing leant to a good trip.

Diane Wahlberg on Sun Dec 20 2009

The Mont Clare Hotel was in a good location with town an easy walk away. It was quiet and on the bus route to the airport.

Jan Sly on Sun Oct 25 2009

we were very comfortable here....excellent location, easy to find. And the staff was very nice...we were able to check in immediately when we arrived and were grateful for that...I certainly would stay here again.

Jan Fogt on Thu Oct 8 2009

Front staff not very helpful. Parking not on site, and difficult to find and operatate car elevator involved. People from north America are not used to having to park using an elevator. We were not told about this and it threw us for a loop. It would have been helpful if the front desk staff would have explained this to us before we left to park the car.

Alessandra Cicchelli on Tue Oct 6 2009

Hub cap stolen in private parking area.

Susan Roach on Mon Sep 28 2009

wonderful location...lovely breakfast including room it was served in helpful, pleasant staff, very small bedroom.

Billie Sorensen on Mon Sep 28 2009

No wifi in room

Robert George on Mon Sep 21 2009

room furnishings were almost "shabby"

Karen Langford on Tue Sep 8 2009

We loved the hotel, particularly the location! It was central and within easy walking distance of everywhere in the city. The room was spacious and comfortable. If we had to name a weakness, it would only be that the air conditioner was not strong enough for us... we were hot at night and opening the window was not enough. The breakfast was great, the building was gorgeous, and the staff was courteous! Thank you so much!

Meredith Wanzer on Mon Aug 17 2009

There is not complimentary valet parking, and I got lost twice trying to find the parking garage!

Tara Cryderman on Mon Aug 17 2009

I really liked the location and the fact that it was an old style hotel.

Nina Ledoyt on Mon Aug 17 2009

Upone arrival we were hardly greated. We then went up to our room and the keys did not work. Went back down, got new keys, went back up- they still did not work. It was because you hard to pull the door shut with all your might in order for it to activate. We went inside to find it smelled of smoke. The walls were thin you could hear everything rooms away. Toilet would not flush. Next day hallway smelled of smoke. I was glad to leave.

Kristina Mcmahon on Thu Aug 13 2009

The staff was really snobbish, and there was a really small blanket on the bed that didn't fit.

Maggie Morrison on Tue Jun 23 2009

Very nice location. Great service.

Gail Dobbs on Sat Jun 20 2009

This place was a little old and rooms were very warm and noisy but staff was excellent!

Pamela Roesner on Wed Jun 17 2009

Great hotel but had no map of Dublin except one that showed a couple of streets. A better map with a larger view would have prevented us from roaming around lost for a few hours. Dublin was a difficult city to traverse by car, so some help from myguide to let us know street names were on the side of buildings, etc.

Sandra Rudd on Sat Jun 6 2009

This was our least favorite hotel and a place we would not stay if we returned to Ireland. When we arrived in our rental car there was no one to help us unload the car. Since this hotel is in the middle of the city, the traffic was terrible. I guess someone inside the hotel saw us struggling and decided to send someone to assist us with our luggage. It was totally frustrating at this check-in (unlike any of the other check-ins). The room was very small (which was OK becuase we didn't stay in the room that much) and it was hot the entire time. We had to open a window to be able to sleep and cool off but then we couldn't go to sleep becuase of all the traffic outside (something going on all night long, e.g., horns honking, people talking, etc.). I know the hotel was not full so they could have put us in a room on the other side that was not so noisy.

Judy Milburn on Tue May 26 2009

We really enjoyed the Mont Clare the staff was 1st rate. Saying that I think it would have been more fun to stay in Temple Bar.

Linda Power on Tue May 5 2009

We were moved on arrival to the Callaghan Hotel across the road. Don't know why. We didn't mind, as our cases were carried across the road to our room, but we were a little surprised.

Felicity Russell on Thu Apr 30 2009

We were moved from one room to another since the TV in our 1st room did not work.

Leslie Kneeshaw on Wed Apr 22 2009

Room was extremely small for 2 people. Air circulation in room very poor - room always hot even though we had no heat on and fan going. Window opened slightly. No fan in bathroom also contibuted to hot, stuffy and humid room. Would not recommend unless there are more amenable rooms in this hotel.

Sheila Gagne on Mon Apr 20 2009

Perfect location. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Dan Cronin on Fri Apr 10 2009

snooty and hard to find. expensive for the accommodations

Bonnie Ford on Thu Apr 9 2009

Great location in Dublin, helpful staff. Room small but comfortable and clean.

Susan Gregson on Sat Mar 28 2009

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very small. We had no space to lay our luggage without having to climb over it. The room looked as if it had not had a good deep cleaning in a while. The location was great. Close to everything. A lot of maps and general information available in the lobby and everything was decorated very well. I could really tell the staff we interacted with took pride in the hotel.

Jessica Guess on Mon Mar 23 2009

Rooms were a little small.

Chris Scully on Mon Dec 1 2008

While the service in the restaurant and bar were outstanding the front desk personnel was very cold and unhelpful.

Victoria Blocker on Fri Nov 28 2008

Very nice, very conveinent for walking to local sites and good restaurants. Parking was difficult and we did have to park at a pay to park complex a couple of blocks away which was a little inconveinent, but we really enjoyed ourselves and the room was very nice.

Patrick Patton on Mon Nov 24 2008

GETTING THERE WAS NOT EASY. WE TOOK A BUS FROM THR AIRPORT THAT DROPPED US ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE LIFFEY ON O'CONNELL STREET. NO MAP NOTHING!! THE DRIVER SAID TO CATCH THE NEXT BUS. HA! NO BUSES RUNNING BECAUSE OF THE MARATHON. WE WALKED SUITCASES IN HAND AND JUST KEPT ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS TO MERRION SQUARE.

Vicki Barlean on Tue Nov 18 2008

See earlier comment.

Heather Hall on Tue Nov 18 2008

The Mont Clare hotel was also great. The people were helpful and it was nicely located. It was definitely a nice start to our vacation as Dublin was the first place on our visit.

Airial Paul on Mon Oct 20 2008

another wonderful place..staff very helpful, a great place to spend our last 2 days in Dublin!

Linda Graniero on Mon Oct 13 2008

I was very satisfied with this "old world" hotel.

Marie Farnady on Mon Oct 13 2008

I have stayed at the Mont Clare for both my trips to Dublin. The staff are wonderful, informative and the location is perfect. The rooms are nice and clean.

Carol Walsh on Mon Oct 6 2008

Hotel was nice, location was great to get to heart of Dublin. The hospitality was ok but not the greatest. Had request for a dinner reservation, was assured itwould be made and when we arrived, there was no reservation. Also, internet did not work while we were there and we did need it. Least favorite of the places we stayed but was still ok.

Tammy Carmichael on Tue Sep 30 2008

Other than it took us 2 hours in rush hour traffic to find it, the location was good. Room was too hot, but the windows opened. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to see.

John Mccarthy on Sat Sep 27 2008

This was a great hotel!

Michelle Ball on Wed Sep 24 2008

David Mueller on Mon Sep 22 2008

Jillian is truelly the best customer service person. The other staff wawer also very helpful. The place was clean but I found the rooms dimly lit.Our room was on a busy street and the 1rst night the a/c wasn't on and irt was very noisey so we didn;t sleep well it was better the 2nd night with the a/c ,The decor was nice .

Teresa Mcaran on Sun Aug 17 2008

This was a great location for touring Dublin as everything was within easy walking distance. The bus that dropped us from the airport was a short walk away, but we discovered on our day of departure that the bus trip back to the airport would be 1.5 hours. The hotel staff suggested we take a taxi to the tourist office and pick up the bus there to avoid the extended bus journey. You might want to let future guests know this in advance. The hotel room was very comfortable.

Fiona Harrower on Sun Aug 10 2008

I referred to this on the B & B page. Overall liked it found it a good value for price, liked location...very helpful employees etc.

Edward Rossmoore on Sun Jul 6 2008

We had a very interesting and educational holiday,Dublin is a very cosmpolitan city with something going on all the time, may I say that the people were very helpfull and the excursion drivers were exceptionaly nice and very funny. we will be taking more trips there in the future.

Sandra Sandland on Mon Jun 23 2008

Staff very helpful and car parking was clearly explained at reception on arrival.

Don Hartley on Thu Jun 19 2008

The hotel is good, could be improved, the rooms are very small and the breakfast was not good at all. The employees are not fully informed but I understand that as they are from abroad and it is the commencement of the season they will be better.

Beatriz Aldatz on Wed Jun 11 2008

Cannot comment on value for money as we really have no idea what it cost us for the hotel. The room was quite small, missing handles on most of the drawers which we could not figure out. The food at breakfast was good but staff didn't seem to want to be there. Would a smile or a good morning have put them out. In the bar the first night we arrived, the soup was good but tacos I ordered not good.

Mary Earl on Wed Jun 11 2008

Very small room, barely able to move around the bed.

Eliza Hall on Sun Jun 8 2008

Not exactly what we expected. The restaurant located in the hotel was not great, we tried to eat there, but waited over 15 minutes and still did not get served, so we left. We came back later for a night cap.....took a drink to the room.

Debra And Riley Parker on Tue Jun 3 2008

Very good choice of location

Mr Eric Mckinnon on Mon May 26 2008

Bed covers clearly had not been changed before we checked in. Suspicious white stains.. v unpleasant. Breakfast very poor. food had been keeping luke warm for a long time so was shrivelled and not hot. Staff not friendly or welcoming in breakfast room. A convenient location but that's the only thing it had going for it.

Ms Nikki Randall on Sun May 25 2008

We were transferred from the Mont Clare to the Stephens Green. They did not have our updated list of travelers. They paid for our taxi to downtown as it was farther than the Mont Clare. However, we walked back after realizing that we were not far. It was most difficult for the tour guide who handled the problem very well.

Mrs Joanna Jordan on Mon May 19 2008

everyone was very nice , the room was a little small but understandable since the hotel is older, very clean

Mr Timothy Quigley on Wed Apr 23 2008

The hotel staff were very gracious in fixing us breakfast at a very early time on Sunday morning as we had to catch a bus to the airport by 5 a.m. That was very nice. The computer in the room that we paid to use did not work, so they brought another up to the room and that, too, did not work. We were finally able to get a computer working in another room, but wasted a great deal of time trying to get a working computer. We spent some time in the bar at this hotel, and again, the waiter in the bar was very gracious. It was very easy to access transportation the morning we left, so that was very nice.

Janis Wallender on Wed Apr 2 2008

We were very happy with the accomodations. Rooms where a little cramped, but aren't they all.

Ray Lynady on Tue Apr 1 2008

OK, this has to be said -- good location and pleasant staff but the facilities were a disappointment. My first night there it was so cold I had to wrap my head in a woollen scarf life a Russian peasant, fold the bedspread over and put my coat on top. Why? Because the radiator stopped working. I could feel that the metal was warm, but it was in no way warming the room. I later found out that you have to turn the thermostat until it clicks to activate it. Now, how would I know this? Where is it written down? When we returned to the hotle at the end of the week and stayed in another room, it was so hot I felt like a hothouse flower. Phones didn't work. Front desk was 0, but the directory told one to call 1.

Robert Johnson on Tue Apr 1 2008

Brilliant location right in the centre and couldn't wish for a better location. Car parking just a short drive away and the secure parking for only 10 Euros for 2 nights was excellent. The room was on the top floor in the eaves with a broken pane in the window. Such a small room I would not have wanted to stay in it for any longer. Again felt we did not get one of the better rooms in this hotel. Cooked breakfast kept in warming pans and not the best.

Robert Sharpe on Tue Mar 18 2008

We had to share beds here and it was pretty outdated. We also had a very hard finding it at first by car. They were very nice though. We ended our trip there and it was so nice to have shampoo in the room again!

Lisa Witt on Fri Feb 8 2008

Perfect. On the corner of Merrion square, across from the nat'l gallery, opposite the Aircoach bus to the hotel, & on the city tours bus line to the more distant tourist sites such as Guiness and the Jail. Otherwise so centrally located that one can walk everywhere.

Marie Hurt on Thu Jan 3 2008

We had reservations at the O'Callaghan Mont Clare, but due to overbooking, the manager arranged for a very nice room across the street at the Alexander. The availability of early check-in really made a long day of traveling more pleasant. Staff very nice.

Stephanie Braunagel on Fri Nov 30 2007

It is a lovely hotel with friendly staff. It was nice to have a hotel so close to the Air Coach stop on our trip in to the city. It was quite a hike with our luggage to catch it for our trip back to the airport.

Brigit Martell on Wed Nov 21 2007

Nice hotel but small rooms. Very nice bar and a nice carvery lunch. Convenient to a "hop on- hop off" tour bus. Walking distance to most attractions other than the west side of Dublin

Bernard Brice on Tue Oct 9 2007

Once again - difficult to find so we spent some time driving around and around Dublin in traffic. Poor parking facilities too far away and the room was tiny! Poor value for money.

Christine Retschlag on Mon Oct 8 2007

Better road map with directions specifically to hotel. Spent two hours driving around Dublin on a Friday afternoon trying to get the right street to hotel. A better city map of Dublin should be included with information package.

Timothy F Phelan on Tue Oct 2 2007

They were very helpful with letting us check in early after a long early flight.

Natalie Dumas-heidt on Wed Sep 26 2007

We had a very nice stay at the Mont Clare. The staff were very accomodating when we arrived early and helpful giving us directions to the city center car return location. The rooms were very nice and clean. The location was excellent--we walked nearly everywhere.

Jancy Simon on Fri Sep 14 2007

great location

Terry Egan on Sun Aug 12 2007

There was no restaurant on the premises to eat at in the evening. We had to go out and find someplace to eat.

Pauline Newcomb on Tue Aug 7 2007

We enjoyed our stay in Dublin. The Mont Clare is in a great location- easy to walk to most places, and very close to the "hop-off hop-on" bus.

Deborah Driscoll on Fri Aug 3 2007

another wonderful meeting place

Joy Davis on Wed Aug 1 2007

Overall the Montclare along with it's sister hotel The Alexander had a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for a Dublin City hotel. the staff were as professional as one would expect in a modern hotel.

Philip Watkin on Mon Jul 30 2007

A great location and the rooms are of a decent standard. Staff are friendly and they do a great breakfast.

Robert Carpenter on Fri Jul 27 2007

Mont Clare is a good hotel to save money in Dublin. It serves its purpose for someone looking to save money staying in the city. It's not luxurious. Look across the street to its sisters if you want more amenities, which are the Alexander and Davenport. We got to where we wanted to go in Dublin, and we liked Merrion Square. We hiked from here to the Guiness-tourist trap factory. The two points are at the opposite ends of Dublin.

Jeremy Huber on Tue Jul 24 2007

The room was a tad small, but the staff was very friendly and helpful. It would've been nice not to have to pay for parking.

Dianne Clark on Tue Jul 17 2007

Ended up being upgraded to Alexander Hotel across the way. Nice start to trip.

Hotel was extremely loud, even though we were on the top floor, the traffic noise made it difficult to rest-- also, the staff didn't help us find anything, we were told the concierge "just isn't here today". Had to go to sister hotel next door for help.

This hotel was an excellent choice, we were extremely happy with the quality of accommodation there and it truly was in 'walking distance' (even after a few pints) of all the major sites we wanted to see and experience in Dublin. We would likely have never been lucky enough to find it if we had tried to do our own searching for a hotel, so we were very happy we used 1, 2, Travel for this service.

Standard Hotel, but very nice.

Rooms were very small, as was the lobby. Staff was friendly. Dining room also small and hotel full of tours from start to finish. Just so-so, overall.

We arrived very early in morning. I was under the impression that we would be able to get into our rooms that early. Turned out not to be the case. But the desk people did their best and were gracious. Our room was inexplicably warm; this remained difficult during our stay. I could not get access to power at bedside for a medical device, but the staff did provide an extension cord.

I liked the Mont Clare a lot, because it is in the center of Dublin. The atmosphere and the staff is nice too.

old style looking. welcoming homely feel. older and smaller style in rooms. irish style almost like a b&b. suite could be used as a family room. local landmark. bar is set in a traditional setting- tourists could like this.

"Sorry this is so late but I just wanted to say Thank you so much for planning such a wonderful trip! We enjoyed every aspect of it. I just wanted to let you know that the tax on the Bed & Breakfast's was a Dublin tax." -- Audrey
