Why did you join myguideIreland?
I joined myguideireland in May 2004 after studying Business Studies and Tourism in Cork. I have an interest in travel and enjoy experiencing different cultures. I think Ireland has so much to offer to everybody and I enjoy helping people get enjoyment from their vacations to Ireland.

What is your favourite part of Ireland?
I have to say West Cork, not because I am from here but because it has some of the most beautiful areas in Ireland. The Mizen Peninsula is one of my favorite areas. Lough Ine is a great place to go to relax especially the night time Kayaking trips you can take on the lake.

What is your favourite visitor attraction?
My Favorite Visitor attraction is The Ring of Kerry and Dingle. These are drives but I think they are some of the most spectacular views of Ireland. Also the Old Midleton Distillery and Cobh Heritage Centre are well worth a visit.

What is your favourite Irish food restaurant in Ireland?
Favorite restaurant is Mary Ann's in Castletownshend. It's menu is great and it has some of the best seafood in West Cork. Really nice atmosphere.

Which is your favourite pub in Ireland?
My favorite pub in Ireland....... Too many to choose from but my local here in Skibbereen is one of my favorites. The Paragon bar does great food daily and there is entertainment there most evenings.

Where do you like to shop?
I like Cork City for shopping. Not one of my favorite passtimes but Cork is a small city so all of the shops are close together so its easy to find things. Also I like Galway for shopping too for much of the same reasons.

Favourite getaway in Ireland?
My favorite getaway is Galway. Great city with a really good atmosphere. The counrty side around it has alot to offer too with Connemara and the Aran islands easily accessible. 3 great castles in the area, Ashford Castle is an amazing experience also Abbeyglen or Ballynahinch Castle would be 2 of my favorites.

Given your experience what advice would you give to people coming to Ireland?

Take your time and don't rush. If you have only a few days take those to really experience few areas instead of rushing through many different parts. Relax and take in the countryside as much as possible. Bring a camera and maybe an umbrella, just in case. Most of all Enjoy your Trip!
