| A classic 17th Century Coaching Inn, the Old Inn is an elegant throw back to a past age, situated in the quiet town of Crawfordsburn just outside Belfast in Northern Ireland.
Established in 1614, the Old Inn has played host to highwaymen and presidents, Russian tsars and movie stars and has had nearly 400 years to perfect the art of hospitality. This clearly shows in the hotel's old world charm; a historic property with beautifully kept original features, such as thatched roof, and timber facade, low timber ceilings, blazing log fires and antique furnishings in the gracious salon and traditional bar.
Like the inn itself, each of the bedrooms is completely individual. Many are grand, charming rooms with an abundance of character, boasting wood panelling, lavish beds and some four posters hung with sumptuous fabrics. Interesting little corners are filled with antique furnishings; fine old windows are framed with elegant brocade and the rooms are fitted with all the modern conveniences. For that extra luxury and privacy, the Old Inn also has a cosy Cottage within its grounds; furnished with high timbered ceilings, lattice paned windows, a fabulous real fireplace in the sitting room and a luxurious bedroom with a grand, four-poster bed.
The hotel's award winning 1614 Restaurant provides stately surroundings for fine dining. With an extensive menu of Irish and international cuisine drawing on such specialties as locally reared lamb and beef and fresh seafood from the nearby fishing ports along the County Down coast. For less formal dining there is the Parlour Bar and Churn Bistro set amidst old mahogany panelling, exposed brickwork and cosy fires, the perfect setting for a carefully poured pint.
The Old Inn is well located for exploring County Down and the city of Belfast and for golfers there are several excellent courses in close proximity, including the Royal Belfast.
