An intimate little country retreat, Ross Lake House, offers
tremendous hospitality, country house charm and gracious living, that
guests return to time and time again.
Hidden away in the wilderness of Connemara, Ross Lake
Hotel is a charming Georgian manor house set within 6 acres of rolling
lawns, colourful flowers and rambling woods at the head of a winding driveway
beside a flowing stream.
A haven of peace and tranquillity, Ross Lake exudes classic
country house charm. Its owners Elaine and Henry Reid offer warmth of
hospitality that Ireland is famous for and has people returning to them
year after year, while their friendly border-collie housedog Millie adds
a touch of character of her own.
Ross Lake is delightfully set with period furnishing in
its elegant drawing room, cosy Library cum bar and intimate dining room
with broad bay windows overlooking the manicured lawns of the gardens.
Each of the well appointed bedrooms of Ross Lake House
are light and airy and individually decorated with tasteful furnishings,
sumptuous beds, some with four poster and half tester beds and are carefully
set out with all the comforts necessary for a relaxed and enjoyable stay.
Dining at Ross Lake is an intimate and unpretentious affair,
with traditional Irish Country Cooking and beautifully prepared food,
using the best of local produce from the hills, streams, lakes and coasts
of Connemara.
Ross Lake is 3km from the town of Oughterard on the shores
of Lough Corrib one of the best fly-fishing waters in Europe for salmon
and brown trout and boats and boatmen can be arranged with prior notice.
Also in Oughterard is an 18-hole parkland golf course, while the bustling
town of Galway, 22km away, is a shopper's paradise of boutiques
and stores and the main cultural centre for the region.
