The Lansdowne Arms Hotel is an elegant retreat, situated in the heart
of Kenmare town, where the traditions of Irish hospitality go back a long way,
and the hotel provides excellent accommodation on the Ring of Kerry.
Built in the 1790s as a country residence for William Perry
Fitzmaurice, 2nd Earl of Shelbourne, the Lansdowne Arms is filled with historic
character and has a long standing tradition of hospitality and classic Irish
charm.
Open fires characterise the cosy lounge and reception area,
decorated with typical country chintz. The bedrooms provide a mix of tasteful
decor and modern comforts. These spaciously appointed rooms are kept to a very
high standard and come with king sized beds among all the usual
facilities.
The hotel's graceful and airy dining room provides excellent
food combining traditional Irish dishes and a full array of international
cuisine. ‘The Bold Thady Quill' is the hotel's main bar, where you can enjoy
some of Ireland's best traditional music in a lively atmosphere, popular with
locals and guests alike. While the more sedate ‘Poet' bar is a place to relax
with a quiet drink or a cocktail.
Kenmare is a popular destination for visitors to Ireland.
Located in County Kerry the town forms one of the main stopping points along the
popular touring route; the Ring of Kerry, which takes in some of Ireland's most
scenic countryside of majestic mountains and dramatic coastline. The Lansdowne
Arms Hotel is perfectly placed for touring this region or enjoying a range of
activities here from walking and horse riding to golf.
