The Western Way Mayo

The Western Way ( Mayo ), in contrast to the Western Way ( Galway ), is one of the longest walks in the country. This 110 miles route takes the walker from the fjord of the Killary Harbour at the Leenaum on the Co. Galway border to the base of the Ox Mountains on the Co. Sligo border. The variety is tremendous, and the walker will pass through some of the most beautiful scenery in Co. Mayo - across rugged mountains, through leafy laneways, by forest track and stream, through wild and desolate bogs.

The route takes you all the way from Leenaun to the Ox Mountains, a distance of around 110 miles. The longest stage is that from Newport to Ballycastle ( 41 miles ). The highest point is that above Sheefry Bridge which stands at 1310 ft.
