Tinakilly Country House

A classic Victorian Country Mansion overlooking the coast in County Wicklow, Tinakilly is a small luxury hotel decked with exquisite period features and set in beautiful sweeping gardens.

The British Government built Tinakilly House in 1883 for Captain Robert Halpin, the mariner responsible for laying the telegraph cable joining Europe to America. The house derives its name from the Irish Ti na Coille, meaning "House of the Wood" and is set within acres of wonderfully landscaped wooded grounds. This proud and elegant 19th Century Manor House is suitably furnished with Victorian era features and fine antiquities.

The entrance hall, warmed by a roaring open fire is graced with an elegant sweeping staircase, leading to the sumptuous guest rooms. Each of the bedrooms at Tinakilly House has been individually designed to the very highest standards, elegantly laid out reflecting the Victorian period while neatly providing all modern comforts. In the west wing, period rooms feature sumptuous four-poster and half tester canopy beds, while the east wing boasts rooms with breathtaking views over the Irish Sea or sweeping views of the gardens.

The Restaurant at Tinakilly House, while reflecting the Victorian era in its surroundings and settings, prides itself on blending both modern and traditional cuisine. The seasonally changing menu draws from locally sourced, game, Wicklow Lamb, fresh fish and Tinakilly's own gardens, while the award-winning wine list features a broad range from traditional to new world wines offering a truly international flavour.

Set in what is know as the garden county of Ireland, Tinakilly House fittingly has its own beautiful 19th Century gardens, where you can stroll around woods, rose gardens and herb garden and enjoy the serenity.

Tinakilly House is close to some of Wicklow's most spectacular scenery from the vales of Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains to the sweeping sands of Brittas Bay , with opportunities for walking and horse riding literally on the doorstep. Also locally there are twenty championship golf courses including the famous Druid's Glen.
