Trag Bay Angling and Diving Charter

For Deep See Angling at its best in Ireland one has to look no further than Trag Deep Sea Charters which is located in Tragumna - just outside the historic town of Skibbereen, on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Gene (an extremely experienced skipper with over 25 years of deep sea fishing in South West Ireland ) and Mary McCarthy with their Fully Licensed 35ft Offshore 105 boat with its 320 HP IVECO offer the angling enthusiast a truly memorable experience.

The area is renowned for its species of fish like Pollack, Conger, Ling, Cod, Coalfish, Bull Huss, Turbot, Bream and Ballan Wrasse. Anglers regularly land huge Common Skate weighing in excess of 100 pounds (45Kg). In the warmer months Blue Shark are plentiful. There is also a chance of unusual species like Stone Basse or Six-Gilled Shark.

For the deep sea diving enthusiast, the clear water and abundant sea life also make this part of Ireland ideal. Diving gear can be rented in Baltimore. There is fabulous diving on the reefs around the Fastnet Rock and the Stags. There are also numerous wrecks, ranging from a man o' war to the spectacular 60,000 ton ore-carrier 'Kowloon Bridge'. You might even see some seals basking in the sun along the coast.

Your accommodation will be at the comfortable Tragumna Bay View Bed & Breakfast, which, as the name suggests, is located on the shores of the scenic Tragumna Bay. All rooms have a TV and are ensuite. They also include tea/cofee making facilities. To get you off to a good start, Mary will serve you a hearty, full Irish breakfast that is bound to keep you going for hours.

Tragumna, just six kilometers from the market town of Skibbereen is adjacent to several small beaches which makes it ideal for the whole family. The area is of outstanding natural beauty, forming part of a Nature Conservation Area. It is beautiful as anywhere in West Cork and is of great botanical and ornithological interest.

After a day of angling why not take in a game of golf at one of a number of golf courses in the area, including Skibbereen and Bantry (each 18 holes). There is also a beautiful Pitch and Putt just 8 Km away.

Horse riding is available in various locations within easy reach of Tragumna. Pubs in the area are many and varied. Most of them offer very good local food either in the restaurants or at the bar - lunch and dinner menus are both interesting and reasonably priced. The fresh seafood is excellent.

What the Expert Says
A truly unforgetable experience. Gene Mc Carthy has a vast amount of knowledge on deep sea angling. The boat is of very good quality as is the fishing gear provided. The deep sea angling in the southwestern region of Ireland is of excellent quality. The coast of West Cork is not to be missed. Bring your camera to take some remarkable pictures of Ireland only to be seen from a boat.
