The West Cork Hotel was originally opened as a hotel 1902, and was owned and operated by the Murphy family for 104 years until 2006 when it was acquired by another local family, Tim and Marion Looney, who have pledged to continue the Hotel’s tradition of old fashioned hospitality, and value.
The Hotel has 34 en-suite rooms, which offer a diverse range of accommodation and budgetary requirements. All rooms are luxuriously appointed; the majority of them take full advantage of views over the beautiful River Ilen, which flows past the hotel. All rooms are equipped with tea- and coffee- making facilities as well as cable TV and direct dial telephone. The rooms are spacious, peaceful, and calming, yet, because the hotel is so centrally located its ideally placed to take advantage of all that beautiful Skibbereen (Sciobairin; ‘little boat harbour’) has to offer; award-winning seafood restaurants, lively traditional music pubs, a French chocolatier, bustling farmers' markets.
Over the years the hotel has proven itself to be an excellent choice for many diverse types of guests such as, visitors from all over the world who want to get a taste of the real Irish welcome and hospitality, couples on romantic getaways, families who want to have fun. In fact anyone wanting a comfortable, friendly, affordable destination which successfully mixes the best of old and new.
The West Cork Hotel is situated in the heart of West Cork and is an ideal base for those wishing to explore what is, arguably, Ireland’s most scenic and unspoilt coastline.
