This tour takes you to the wonders of Britain and Ireland, stopping at
Stonehenge, the elegant city of Bath, Cardiff Castle, the Blarney
Stone, Dublin , Edinburgh Castle, medieval York and of course the
famous sights of London. Join us on this breathtaking trip!
Day 1 Depart USABoard your overnight transatlantic flight
Day 2 Arrive in London, England
Welcome to London! After checking into the hotel, time is at leisure to relax and unwind.
Day 3 London/ Stonehenge / Bath / Cardiff, Wales
A warm welcome from our Tour Director as we leave London and drive to
Runnymede where the Magna Carta was signed. On past Windsor Castle.
Then to the mysterious stone circle at Stonehenge for a fascinating
visit before stopping in Salisbury. Continue to the elegant Georgian
streets of Bath where we tour the Roman Baths before crossing the
Severn Bridge to Cardiff, capital of Wales. This evening, enjoy a
Welcome Drink with our Tour Director. (CB)
Day 4 Cardiff / Pembroke / Waterford, Ireland
See Cardiff Castle before driving across South Wales via Carmarthen.
Next, head to Pembroke to view the castle, birthplace of Henry VII of
the Tudor Dynasty. Here, board the ferry for Rosslare in Ireland. On
arrival, drive to Waterford. (FB,D)
Day 5 Waterford/ Blarney / Kenmare
Visit the Waterford
Crystal Showrooms. Then drive along the splendid southern coast to
visit Blarney Castle. Kiss the stone and acquire the “gift of the gab!”
Continue to Kenmare. (FB,D)
Day 6 Kenmare / Ring of Kerry / Limerick
This morning, drive
around the Ring of Kerry, a wonderful landscape with some of the most
beautiful coastline and highest mountains in Ireland. Then through
Adare and across the Shannon to Limerick. (FB)
Day 7 Limerick/ Galway / Dublin
We have the chance to visit
Bunratty Castle and folk park. Then drive across County Clare to view
Galway Bay. We stop in Galway, then head to Dublin. (FB)
Day 8 Dublin Sightseeing and at Leisure
This morning’s sightseeing tour of Dublin shows us Trinity College and
the beautiful Book of Kells, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Phoenix Park and
the Georgian Squares. The rest of the day is at leisure. (FB)
Day 9 Dublin / Liverpool, England
Cross the Irish Sea by ferry. We arrive in Holyhead on the Welsh Island
of Anglesey. See the station with the longest name in the world,
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwlllantysiliogogogoch. Travel to
Chester and take a walking tour which includes the Roman walls, the
“Rows” and an interesting hidden treasure.Then on to Liverpool, where
we savor a Highlight Dinner. (FB,HD)
Day 10 Liverpool / Lake District / Edinburgh, Scotland
We travel to the English Lake District and stop in pretty Grasmere to
see the home of William Wordsworth. Our next stop is at Gretna Green
just across the Scottish border, the place where eloping couples could
marry. Finally on to the Scottish capital, Edinburgh. During the
Festival, we include tickets to the Edinburgh Tattoo. (FB)
Day 11 Edinburgh Sightseeing and at Leisure
Morning
sightseeing includes a visit to the apartments in Edinburgh Castle and
views of Holyrood House. Then drive along elegant Princes Street and
see the monument to Sir Walter Scott and the New Town. (FB)
Day 12 Edinburgh / York, EnglandTravel
through the Scottish Borderlands and across the River Tweed, stopping
to see the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey. Drive into Northumberland National
Park to inspect a section of Hadrian’s Wall. Enjoy a delicious
afternoon tea. Next, on to York where our walking tour shows us the
Shambles and York Minster. (FB)
Day 13 York / Coventry / Shakespeare Country
We drive into
the heart of England to the city of Coventry. Here we see the two
cathedrals – one bombed during the second World War and the other built
to replace it. We’ll also see the statue of Lady Godiva before enjoying
a Farewell Dinner at our hotel tonight. (FB,FD)
Day 14 Shakespeare Country / Stratford / Oxford / London
Today we see Anne Hathaway’s thatched cottage en route to
Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare’s birthplace. Next to Bladon
to see Sir Winston Churchill’s grave. Our final stop is at Oxford where
we enjoy a guided walk around before our journey leads us back to
